This movement of electrons generates direct current (DC) electricity.

To make solar power usable, an inverter is used to convert the DC electricity into alternating current (AC) electricity, which is compatible with most electrical devices and grids. The AC electricity can power homes, businesses, and communities.

Excess electricity can be fed back into the grid, earning credits through net metering programs. Alternatively, it can be stored in batteries for later use, ensuring a continuous power supply during periods of low sunlight or at night.
